TRICARE Supplement Insurance Plan

The TRICARE Supplement plan is secondary insurance option by AFSA that wraps around your existing TRICARE coverage to help eliminate out-of-pocket costs like co-pays, cost-shares, and excess charges. Available to AFSA members under age 65, including retirees and families of active-duty members, the plan pays 100% of covered medical expenses once both TRICARE and supplement plan deductibles are met. It provides guaranteed acceptance and covers services ranging from doctor visits and hospital stays to prescription medications and even chiropractic or acupuncture benefits.

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS)

The official charity of the Air Force. They provide emergency financial assistance (interest-free loans or grants) for immediate needs like rent, utilities, vehicle repairs, and funeral expenses. They also offer the “Falcon Loan” for expedited assistance up to $1,500.

Military OneSource

A Department of Defense program available 24/7 by phone or online. It helps with Non-medical confidential counseling, free tax filing services, health and wellness coaching, and answers to almost any question about military life.

Air Force Housing & BAH Calculator

The official resource for Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) rates and privatized housing information. Essential for families planning a PCS or living off-base to verify current allowance rates which often adjust annually.

Air Force Tuition Assistance (TA)

The primary active-duty education benefit. TA covers up to $4,500/year for college courses.

AF COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line)

Pays for professional certifications and licenses relevant to your AFSC (job) or leadership roles.

MyCAA Scholarship

A workforce development scholarship for eligible military spouses. It provides up to $4,000 in tuition assistance for licenses, certifications, or Associate’s degrees in high-growth, portable career fields.

Air & Space Forces Association Scholarships (AFA)

The AFA offers 12 distinct scholarship programs (such as the Michael Wilson Scholarship) for Air Force and Space Force personnel, their spouses, and their children.

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant

This is the primary “quality of life” charity for the Air Force. It provides need-based grants to dependent children of active duty and retired Airmen.

Scholarships for Military Children (Fisher House Foundation)

Specifically for children of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military members. Applications are tied to local military commissaries.

Pat Tillman Foundation Scholars

A highly prestigious and competitive program for active-duty service members, veterans, and military spouses who demonstrate a commitment to service and leadership.

MOAA Education Assistance Program

The Military Officers Association of America provides interest-free loans and grants to children of former, active, or retired officers and senior enlisted personnel.

AMVETS National Scholarships

AMVETS offers several scholarships for veterans, active-duty members, and their children/grandchildren based on academic merit and financial need.

Airmen Memorial Foundation (AMF) Scholarship

Sponsored by the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA), these scholarships are for the children of active duty, retired, or veteran Air Force, ANG, or AFRC members.

NMFA Military Spouse Scholarships

The National Military Family Association provides scholarships for military spouses to use for GEDs, certifications, or professional degrees.

VFW “Help A Hero” Scholarship

In partnership with Sport Clips, this program provides service members and veterans with the financial help they need to complete their educational goals.

AFCEA War Veterans Scholarships

AFCEA offers scholarships to undergraduate students who are actively serving or are honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, specifically for STEM majors.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation

This foundation provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

Folded Flag Foundation Scholarships

Provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of U.S. military and government personnel who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident during combat operations.

Daedalian Foundation Descendant Scholarship

Named after the WWI pilot organization, this is for descendants of Daedalians or children of military aviators pursuing a degree in a flight-related field.

Hope For The Warriors Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship

Focuses on the spouses and caregivers of post-9/11 service members who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.

Military & Family Readiness Center (MFRC)

The physical hub for support services on every Air Force installation. They help with relocation assistance (PCS), transition assistance (TAP), financial counseling, employment help for spouses, and deployment support. If you don’t know where to go, start here.

Force Support Squadron (FSS)

Provides Recreational Activities and Community Support That Improve the Quality of Life for All Whiteman Air Force Base Personnel and Their Families.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)

A mandatory enrollment program for family members with special medical or educational needs. It ensures that families are only assigned to locations where those specific needs can be supported by the local medical system.

Blue Star Families

A non-profit organization that connects military families with their local civilian communities. They offer “Welcome Weeks,” free access to museums and parks (Blue Star Museums), and career networking events to combat isolation.
